materials to hand

Generating good ideas for your own enterprise can be elusive. We get easily confused and bogged down by over thinking things.

Take a leaf out of the book of artisans all over the world and just use what you have to hand.

In rural China I often see people making stuff out of Bamboo. It’s strong and versatile and can be used for building, growing frames, scaffolding, pipes and all sorts of other things.

Then of course there is the question of getting tooled up for work. A lot of times this is actually an excuse or another form of resistance getting in the way of you actually getting started on a project.

Just use the kitchen table method to get started and you’ll be surprised at how resilient and resourceful you can be. If in doubt and especially if you feel like going online or travelling to the DIY store to get materials, ask yourself:

  • What’s the kitchen table equivalent of this tool or material I think I need?
  • What’s the zero spend (money) option for this? Hint: there is always a zero spend option.

Try it and free yourself through your own enterprise.
