What to do about the fear
“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”…Yoda
There was a palpable air of frustration at tea-time this week. Is the frustration we feel after Paris founded in helplessness? And does our lack of control over events lead to more fear? And does that fear lead to continued suffering due to us jumping to all of the same old conclusions, like the need for revenge and for retreat to our own little worlds, just when we probably should be reaching out?
Then, Star Wars came up and of course Yoda summarises these connections best.
Seth also has a well considered post today:
“Modern fortresses amplify fear, destroy the value that’s at the heart of the connection economy, and don’t actually pay off. It’s far more valuable to live in a community of hard-working, trustworthy refugees and (former) strangers than it is to become isolated.
To be clear, the threat might be real. And the fear certainly is. That’s not in question. The question is: What to do about our fear?“

Beautifully put John.
It’s a good time to keep it simple.
As Yoda also said, “There is no TRY, just DO”
Just so happens I was looking for Star Wars quotes last week to put in my eldest sons birthday card, partly because there’s a new Game out and I came acroos a Star Wars birthday card.
“There is no fate but that which we make”
Love it. May the force be with you. X
